Freedom of Information Act 2014

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2014 provides that from the 14th April 2015, every person has the following legal rights:

  • the right to access official records held by public bodies as defined by the Act in this case the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA).
  • the right to have personal information held on them corrected or updated where such information is incomplete, incorrect or misleading;
  • the right to be given reasons for decisions taken by public bodies that affect them

Details on payment

The National Payments Plan (NPP), launched in April 2013 by the Department of Finance, has a primary aim of modernising and reducing the cost of Ireland’s payment system through the increased use of more efficient payment methods, thereby leading to increased competitiveness and efficiency.

To comply with this requirement, from 19 September SFPA will no longer accept payments by cheque and asks that future payments to SFPA are made by EFT.
